Two Days in Frankfurt: A Short Stop on Our Way to India

Our brief yet memorable stay in Frankfurt turned out to be the perfect mix of history, nature, and relaxation.

Day 1 –Exploring the City

After landing in Frankfurt, we checked into our hotel and set out to explore the city’s highlights.

Our first stop was the Frankfurt Cathedral, a majestic landmark that dominates the old town skyline.

Just a short stroll away stood the Römer, the city’s medieval town hall, located in the heart of Old Town. The cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, and open squares filled with lively cafés gave the place a vibrant charm.

In the afternoon, we made our way up the Main Tower, one of the few skyscrapers open to visitors. The panoramic view from the top was spectacular.

Later, we unwound with a peaceful walk through Grüneburgpark, a sprawling green oasis where locals were basking in the afternoon sun.

We ended the day at the nearby Palm Garden, a botanical haven featuring exotic plants from around the world. Its glasshouses, serene ponds, and colorful blooms provided a beautiful and refreshing close to our first day in Frankfurt.

Day 2 – Cruising the Rhine and stunning Rüdesheim’s Views

Our second day was dedicated to one of Germany’s most picturesque experiences — a Rhine River Cruise. We had booked the excursion through Viator, and after a pleasant one-hour drive from the city, we boarded our cruise.

The journey along the Rhine was magical dotted with fairytale castles perched on hilltops. After a relaxing two-hour sail, we disembarked for a hearty lunch before heading to Rüdesheim, one of the most beautiful villages on the Rhine.

The highlight of the day was our visit to the Niederwald Monument, offering panoramic views of the Rhine Valley.

By evening, we were back in Frankfurt — just in time for a comforting South Indian dinner at Saravana Bhavan, conveniently located near Frankfurt Central Station.

Day 3 – Goodbye, Frankfurt!

Our final morning in Frankfurt was calm and unhurried. With our bags packed and hearts full, we bid farewell to this city that beautifully blends modernity with history.

Although our visit was short, it offered the perfect balance of culture, scenic beauty, and relaxation.

We couldn’t fit in the Städel Museum this time, but it’s already on our list for our next trip to Frankfurt!
