Saguaro National Park

Itinerary (About half a day at the park) – May 2024

We drove about 100 miles from Phoenix to reach Saguaro National Park

Our first stop was Red Hills Visitor center to get to know the current conditions and also for stamping our NP Passport.

Next, we hiked the Desert Discovery Trail, a short and easy paved loop that is accessible friendly. There was a small parking area near the trail head.  We could get close views of the Saguaro cacti in this trail

After the trail we drove along the 6 mile Bajada Scenic Loop Drive. This is a well maintained graded dirt road and is suitable for all vehicles. On both sides of the road there were plenty of Saguaro plants

Finally, we hiked the Valley View Overlook Trail, a short out-and-back trail with beautiful saguaros along the way. At the end, there is a viewpoint offering breathtaking views of the valley below.

After about 6 hours in the park we drove to Show Low town in Arizona for overnight stay.
