A Scenic Stop at Lake Tahoe
Exploring National Parks comes with an added bonus – the chance to discover spectacular attractions nearby.
On our way to Lassen Volcanic National Park in May 2024, we made a brief stop at Lake Tahoe.
Known for its clear blue waters, this natural wonder, with a depth of about 1600 feet, is truly fascinating.

We took the iconic 72-mile scenic loop drive, listening to the Guide Along audio tour. The route took us through small towns, state parks, and breathtaking viewpoints.
Along the way, we paused at several scenic spots:
Sand Harbor – A beautiful sandy beach, perfect for swimming and water sports. It was alive with visitors enjoying the sun.

Eldorado Beach – A lively waterfront where children played and walkers strolled along the shore. We found a quiet picnic bench, made fresh veggie sandwiches, and enjoyed the lakeside lunch.

Artist Point – One of the best spots to capture stunning photos and videos of the lake’s vibrant landscape.

Inspiration Point – After a winding drive up the hillside, we arrived at this breathtaking overlook, offering a panoramic view of Lake Tahoe and the picturesque Emerald Bay.

We had a great afternoon exploring Lake Tahoe’s scenic sights and stayed in the vicinity overnight before continuing our journey to Lassen Volcanic National Park the next morning.
